interview a “patient.” If students who are currently engaged in clinical work conduct intake interviews, then they can use one of those intakes, assuming it meets thecriteria of the assignment and they have received permission to do so from their clinical supervisor. Students not currently engaged in clinical work will have to finda “patient” to interview.
obtain informed consent for participation. If the interview takes place outside of a clinical setting, then you must inform the participant that you are not alicensed psychologist and you are not conducting a formal psychological assessment or intake interview for the purpose of psychotherapy. Rather, you are a student in adoctoral of psychology program and you are doing the interview as an educational exercise.
