Burnout & Family Work
Working with families can be incredibly rewarding and yet, challenging given the complexity of trauma, significant need, and conflict that you’ll encounter when working with multiple family systems. Training and education to ensure ongoing competence is just as important as being cognizant of our self-awareness and symptoms of burnout.
One symptom of burnout may be the use of disparaging language to describe clients such as the use of epithets, crude descriptions, canceling meetings with short notice, irritability, and lack of compassion, etc.
