Prepare for this discussion by selecting a case study and creating a developmentally appropriate activity that enhances each domain of development: cognitive, physical, and affective. Remember, “researchers and curriculum specialists also emphasize that growth and learning occur as an integrated process across multiple domains” (Gestwicki, 2011; Hull, Goldhaber, & Capone, 2002; Levine & Munsch, 2011, as cited in Jaruszewicz, 2013, section 4.1, para. 7). This means that you do not need to create three separate activities – just one or more activities that address multiple domains simultaneously. An example activity for this discussion is located in the Week Two Instructor Guidance.

Both Pascal and William James put forward a kind of prudential argument for religious belief and argue that we should make decisions on practical grounds in those cases. Contemporary philosopher Michael Bergmann, on the other hand as a representative of Reformed epistemology, takes a different approach. Instead of arguing that religious beliefs can be justified based on prudential reasons, he instead posits that human beings have a “sense of divinity” that allows us to rationally form basic beliefs entailing God’s existence. Are either of these two streams of nonevidentialism reasonable justifications of religious belief in your view? Why or why not?

What role do you think technology/media should play in the lives of school-age children? Specifically: How and to what extent should technology/media be used for educational purposes? For example, should teachers integrate technology as much as possible in their lessons? Should parents encourage children to study using educational software and the Internet? Or are more traditional learning methods preferable?

Article: Lewin, T. (2010, January 20). If your children are awake, then they’re probably online.

The Didion and Thomas pieces serve as wonderful models from which you may imitate your reflective essay. The focus for this assignment, however, is developing skills to meet your goals to achieve a desired lifestyle. Throughout your life, culture has subjected you to an expectation of creating a lifestyle worthy of living. Education (developed and exercised skills) seems a corner stone in this process. This assignment gives you the opportunity to reflect on the influence of education on that process . . . its impact . . . its legitimacy . . . its fairness. Review the notes below that specifically focus on reflective/reflexive criteria. These notes will guide your content and thinking about this assignment.

One of the most important and interesting steps to take as you begin researching a subject is selecting the resources that will help you build your thesis and support your assertions. Certain topics require you to pay special attention to how current your resource is—because they are time sensitive, because they have evolved so much over the years, or because new research comes out on the topic so frequently. When evaluating the currency of an article, consider the following: • When was the item written, and how frequently does the publication it is in come out? • Is there evidence of newly added or updated information in the item?

This discussion is your opportunity to take a position about developmentally appropriate assessments. Remember what Jaruszewicz (2013) says about informal assessments: “Informal assessments match curriculum goals, actively involve children and families, focus on change and growth over time, and occur in real time in the classroom or care setting” (section 12,2, para. 11). To prepare for this discussion, review the Week Three Instructor Guidance and review the several commonly used informal assessments noted in Table 12.3 of the text.

Many issues have been shed light since the attacks on 9/11 in the United States, the majority of them have set the stage on foreign policy and how we conduct business with other Countries and how do we handle terrorists. For this week forum on the Toulmin’s structure of arguments I chose the research article on severe obesity in children and adolescents. While the steps in the Toulmin method are clear, it is not always so in everything that is written or read. Some steps from his method may be missing if the author is not certain to follow that particular style of writing in their essay. this is what I what was able to identify in the essay/article that I chose.
